MARCO BECOMES EXCLUSIVE DISTRIBUTOR
FOR BARATZA GRINDERS

Virtuoso with Portaholder                         Maestro Plus hi-res

Leading beverage equipment innovator and manufacturer, Marco Beverage Systems, has become the exclusive distributor in the UK and Ireland for iconic US-built coffee grinders, Baratza. Baratza is as passionate about innovation and cup quality as Marco and manufactures a range of grinders for the domestic/professional marketplace, with coffee quality and user experience as fundamental cornerstones.

BARATZA GRINDERS

Baratza grinders are manufactured in the U.S. Pacific North-West. The Company was started in 1999 by Kyle Anderson, inventor of the first commercial super-automatic latte/espresso machine, together with business partner, Kyra Kennedy. The pair spotted a niche in the coffee grinder market for a range of products to satisfy the enthusiastic amateur and the artisan gourmet professional. Hence, the current range blurs the line between “home” and “commercial” coffee grinders.

Today, Baratza is the grinder of choice in the US for the gourmet coffee fraternity. The product range comprises the Maestro, Maestro Plus and Virtuoso grinders along with a Portaholder to allow direct grind to a portafilter. The Baratza range perfectly complements the Marco family of equipment and offers the industry excellent grinder quality at incredible value.

KEY FEATURES

All Baratza grinders share unique features including an innovative calibration system with a 40-step adjustment range to achieve precision grinding from espresso/fine to cafetière/coarse; a conical burr set with easy access for service and cleaning; a powerful DC motor with low revolutions to minimise the reheating of coffee grounds; static reduction to limit residual coffees from bean to bean and a clean and efficient grinds collector.

The Maestro and Maestro Plus are the perfect options for brewed coffee on a low volume site or for heavy domestic use. Whilst they share the same conical burr set, the Maestro Plus has a choice of delivery options, pulse delivery and a timer. The Maestro Plus is also more robust with a cast metal base.

The Virtuoso boasts a 40mm commercial grade burr set for home or professional applications and produces excellent grind profiles for switching from espresso to filter coffee. As with the Maestro Plus, the Virtuoso is equipped with a timer and pulse button option for espresso delivery into a portafilter.

Says Chris York, Marco’s UK Sales Director: “We are delighted to have secured distribution rights to Baratza over here and the grinders are a perfectly fit with our existing small batch brewer portfolio. The range will fill a market niche for low volume ‘grind-on-demand’ speciality roast operations as well as offering high quality grinding options for the home-barista.”
